I finally was able to fax using 14400 baud rate, but if that doesn't work try 9600. Here are the instructions:
Changing the Fax Baud Rate for HP PSC 2210 - all in one
Press * and # at the same time, and then release both keys
Press 1, 2, and then 3, releasing each key before pressing the next.
The display window should read "Service" with a revision number.
Press the right arrow button once.
The display should read "System Configuration".
Press Enter.
Press the right arrow button until "r/w parameter" appears in the display.
Now again press Enter
The display should read "parameter 0".
Now press 153 on the key pad (outgoing fax baud rate)
Press Enter
This will show the current value. (26 by default, 33600)
Now you can select any of the below given value. The baud rate corresponding to each value is given next to it: 0 = 14400 1 = 12000 2 = 9600 3 = 7200
Press Enter
Should read "parameter 0 again.
Now Press 159 (incoming fax baud rate) on the key pad instead of 153.
Then press Enter.
This will show the current value. (26 by default, 33600)
Now you can select any of the below given value. The baud rate corresponding to each value is given next to it: 0 = 14400 1 = 12000 2 = 9600 3 = 7200
Press Enter
Should read "parameter 0 again.
Then Press Cancel until display is back the date and time. |

Nice work. This technique also fixed failures transmitting to certain machines from an HP d155xi All In One. |

these instructions also work with an HP Officejet 6110. However, they do not work with an HP 1040 fax as it does not have the same menu system. |

I have employed this solution on my HP 6110 All-in-One for some time, though with limited success. It only works at the lowest baud rate and yields only 3-4 pages being successfully faxed at a time.
In an unrelated matter, I recently learned that the cable signal (I use cable for high-speed internet service and Voip) at the point of entering my house is very poor. I'm not positive if improving signal quality will improve fax-over-VOIP (I'm about to find out), but I suspect that it can't hurt. |
