Just tested my WRTP54G and polarity came out correct. At least I think it is correct... I assume that red is supposed to be positive and green is supposed to be negative...
I don't have a specific line tester, I just cut one RJ11 end off a standard patch cable (sacrificed for science) and tested the wires on my old Fluke 77.

as the 2600 community says:

right (side of the terminals)
ring (carries the ringing voltage {+})
red (red wire)
yes red is the positive i guess it may be just on the rt31p2 even when i called tech they switched me to phone port 2 and it was reversed also.

I have to disagree. I'm pretty sure that with POTS the red wire was always negative.
The ringing voltage is AC, so polarity isn't relevent. The ring in this case refers to the contact on a 3 wire plug- tip, ring, and sleeve. The green wire (tip) is positive.
