I think I have it..
They called it a fake-lan-line. I get highspeed through the telephone wires, but there is no dialtone.
so I only pay for the highspeed and vonage... no bell telephone charge..
Ofcourse I'm having real bad problems with Bell and Vonage. The upload speeds are only in the 10kbps range... |

The development of the "naked DSL" option addresses the issue that Bell, Telus, or any other government support monopoly, actually has to face competition for the first time. This has in turn forced Bell to innovate on its service offerings in order to stay competitive in the market as it develops over the next 10 years, hence "naked DSL". Without competition, there is no motivation to provide customer service or any stimulation to innovate, hence, we have phone technology that is 5 to 8 years older than that available in Japan, we have power companies that pollute twice as much as US power companies and we have to wait for hours and hours for any medical care. Government supported monopolies don't perform the primary function they are supposed to, service the majority of people well, in fact they service a very small group of people with huge fat pay-offs, and screw the rest of us. But with companies like Vonage on the rise, we finally have a choice amoungst one of the core problems with Canada, anti-competitive government supported markets. I look forward to putting Vonage to the test, and if they don't perform, well, it looks like the Skype-In service will be available in Canada very soon as well, and I'm sure they aren't the only company on the rise. |
