There's another company out there now which will provide you with either high speed cable or DSL through your current phone line and cable line. I switched to them because Videotron (my current cable company) was forcing me into a 12-month contract in order to get the price of $37.95 per month for high speed internet service. If I did not sign the 12-month contract, I would have paid $47.95 per month - quite a big increase!! The problem was that I really liked the quality of the Videotron high speed internet, even though their customer service sucked.

B2B2C is the company that re-sells services from Videotron and Bell. They can provide DSL or Cable high speed. I noticed that my cable connection is still through Videotron, but it's B2B2C who sends me the bill at the end of the month, and it's $37.95 with no contract and basically the same service. Videotron charges 50% of however many months you have left with them if you cancel your subscription before your anniversary date. It was really a bum deal. Check out http://www.b2b2c.ca/site.asp?lang=En to see if you might qualify for their internet high speed service. If you live in Quebec, you definitely do because they operate anywhere Videotron operates. They also provide service to residents of Ontario.

Sounds good (if you own yer own Modem). Otherwise yer paying a $50 activation fee if you rent one from them.

True. I had my own modem already. They just needed the mac id and serial number from the back. The service works really well. It's no different than being with my old provider and it is still using their line.

I didn't know companies were able / allowed to resell cable like they do with DSL. That's pretty cool. I might have to look into this because it's costing me something like 75$ per month with tax right now for Videotron extreme.

I feel the same way about Telus as Darkev does about Bell. It's nice to be reminded that I'm not alone in my experiences, once in a while.

Here's to Vonage (and other VoIP's) and the end of monopolies, poor service, lies and everything else that came with their "bundles" on phone service. Airborne

and this is to you know who.... Nana

Forgot why I was replying...

Yesterday I called two 1-800 numbers yesterday; (Westjet, CIBC) and the calls went through no problem.

Maybe these #'s are still routed through the US; I just assumed the 1-800 issue had been fixed.

Both WestJet and CIBC (and most telephone banking numbers) are enabled for calling from anywhere in Canada or the US. I believe that the server is still in the US. If you called a toll free number that is regional or enabled to be called from Canadian area codes only, the call likely won't go through still.

Yup, B2B2C will re-sell Videotron services, but I do not think that they will re-sell the EXTREME speed flavour. You can only get high speed through them at this time. In the future they may offer the extreme. It wouldn't hurt to ask them if you are interested.

The benefit of going with this company is that they don't force you to lock yourself into a contract, your Vonage phone will work as it always did since you are not really leaving Videotron, and you don't have to worry about bundled deals. I went with StarChoice Satellite and that broke my bundle deal that I had with Videotron. I find the picture quality much better through satellite than through digital cable (for whatever reason). In any case, I searched around until I found a high speed deal that was just as good as what I had before, and even better. No more contracts and the same speed.

It is now the end of September...

Has anyone actually been able to sign up for "Naked DSL" with Bell Sympatico?

Not here. but I went to a Bell Store 2 days ago to inquire about it. The Bell Rep there gave me a 800 # to call in if I wanted to get that.

So if you want it, its available.
