Just a thought......

In the UK my mother had a Telephone Answering / Fax machine that when set to "Night Mode" all calls would go straight to the Voicemail, but like a PIN used to remotely access messages, there was a 2nd PIN which could be used to overide the Voicemail and start the phone ringing again. Perhaps something like that could be implemented into a Do Not Disturb function.

Most "do not disturb" have a "break thru" code to bypass and get thru. One reason I'm going to Vonage is qwest charges for do not disturb, voice mail, caller-id, etc etc. Vonage may not be there yet, but its offerings, as is, beats land line companies. I was paying $80 a month with qwest, and some $20 of that was for features "NOT" to receive calls.

I agree this would be great.
Also, I wish my phone would not ring once even when my voicemail is set to answer instantly.

I requested this a couple posts down. Another option is to purchase a phone with do not disturb on it. I just bought a phone that has this so I won't have to wait for Vonage to catch up. Just a thought.

Yea but you have to remember to manually turn DND off and on with these DND button phones. Not the direction I want to go.

I thought this guy had a pretty good idea.

With most routers nowadays you can set access restrictions to any device on the network. Enter your Vonage box's MAC address into the device table and don't let it access the internet late at night.

I've e-mailed this to a few of Vonage's officials, and will bring the suggestion here as well...

I'm currently in California, and would love to sign up for a Virtual number out of Europe, but I'm backing off at the thought of getting phone calls at the worst time of night -- as Europe is 9 hours ahead of U.S. PST.

Because of the lack of Do-Not-Disturb, my solution is buying an unlocked SIP adapter and getting a free-incoming-call, no-monthly-fee service out of Europe (not going to name it here, obviously). Advantage: I can have a separate phone hooked to that SIP in my home office... so late phone calls won't wake me up in the bedroom.

...Whatever happened to Vonage's Austrian Virtual Numbers anyway? They came and went?

I like this idea but id like to see a feature that would allow me to block indefinitely/temporarily all numbers or some numbers and during the hours of your choice. There might be times when you want to not be disturbed but you might want calls to come through from family or friends for emergency reasons.

I'd really like to see a Do Not Disturb feature that can be scheduled for specific time periods -- for example, every day from 8:00pm to 6:00am. A feature such as this would be very helpful for parents with young children. For me personally, I have friends / family who often call after 9:00pm, even though I've repeatedly asked them not to (since my child is a light sleeper). Having an automated way to temporarily shut them off would be very beneficial.

Absolutely needed! We started using Vonage in California and now live in Europe using Vonage with a mid-west USA phone number for family. The time difference if +7 hours. Any wrong numbers in the middle of the day in St. Louis ring in Paris in the middle of the night! I've asked Vonage to consider this several times as I was told it is offered by some of their competitors (AT&T Call Vantage). I've bought stock in the company but it really needs to start paying attention to what it's customers want and need in order to promote it. The idea or turning instant call forwarding on at bedtime and off in the morning each and every day is a bit ridiculous.

I would love to have this feature too! I work 3rd shift on certain days and when I get home from work the only thing I want is sleep while the rest of the world is calling me.
