ok i just got a Vonage wireless router for my new computer. Now my service is not working. It was working fine with the wired router that I had but now after I installed this router everything is working except for my phone service. If I could get some tech help I would appreciate it. I will answer any questions you guys have (to the best of my ability). Im also a slow typer, hunt and peck type, so please be patient as well. Thanks G

The telephone portion may take a while once the router is plugged in. It looks to Vonage and downloads some info. If you don't see the "LAN" light flashing a lot (indicating an download) then try powering it down for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in. That has worked for a few people.

Also, did Vonage send you the router or did you go out and buy it? If you bought it, you have to call up and register it so your lines can be moved from the old device to the new one (assuming you were already a Vonage customer.) Fill in the blanks here and we'll see if you can get some help.

no i did not call Vonage. yes i did have Vonage already but when i bought the router at best buy they entered a code into the system. Is that just saying that this router belongs to me? If so I guess I do need to call them then. Right?

I think you would. If you didn't have Vonage already, you could use the web site to register the unit but since you already have service, they need to move it over.

My personal experience when Vonage sent me two new RT31P2 units to replace old Cisco ones was that it moved the lines automatically. That does not seem to be the case for retail purchased units.

Pull up a chair, get a drink and some snacks and call up customer service. Be prepared for a 30-60 minute wait or call between about 6 and 8 in the morning for sometimes faster access.

One other thought....

Plug your old terminal adapter into one of the ports on your WRT54GP2 unit and you'll probably be able to get Vonage dial tone so you can call them on your Vonage line and save money.

I recommend calling their 800 number for help.
