I am coming up on 6 months for my number transfer .. I have been promised call backs from Vonage on 6 occasions, they still have yet to follow up. I have contacted the switch people, who say Vonage has made no attempt to initiate the transfer ... I am very disappointed with Vonage, as their customer service is basically useless, assuming you can get ahold of them, with (in my case) a 2 hour mean time to get someone to talk to. This is terrible!!! I have been paying both verizon and Vonage for the same 2 phone numbers for 6 months... is it legal for Vonage to charge for service they are not providing? I am in the process of writing to some officials to find out.

well, you do have a virtual number....and anyways, if you call Vonage they'll refund you the money for every day over 20 business days from the time you signed up...

seeing everyone elses problem, and my own. It has been the third party and not Vonage that is at fault. The company that handles the number transfer for Vonage is to be blamed for the delay. If you are going to complain, complain against them.

There are forums here that tell you the steps to take to file a complaint. But remember not against Vonage, but agaisnt the third party.

Also, third party phone company will not give you any information. They wiill only communicate with Vonage. So dont believe anything they say all the time. If they say that Vonage hasnt initiated anything, that's probaby crap, and that CSR is jes making **** up.

Find out from Vonage who your third party is. Then call that third party and ask to speak to the department that handles UNE-P Alternative Access
service.

After 3 months, I tried to follow up for myself, to see what the hold up could be. I contacted Verizon, and ultimately followed the chain until I contacted the NOMC Switch provider. I found a nice lady named Glenda. She looked into this, and discovered that no one from Vonage had ever even submitted the paperwork to them to initiate the number transfer, and this would NOT happen until they did, as the NOMC is responsible for said change. Glenda said she would be more than happy to get this done, all we needed was the CCNA codes and a pawn request from Vonage. I contacted Vonage YET again, and provided them with this information, that was 4 months ago. by the way, I am still awaiting a transfer... You should ask before you shoot off your mouth,

hey man, I was just trying to help... no need to get personal....

you being the person that needs help, it's probably not a good idea to get pissed at a person that is trying to help...

oh btw, I kind of assumed that you are awaiting transfer. I dont understand from where in my reply did you think that I assumed that you already had a transfer... hmm

No need to be hostile to Jamn, he is just trying to help.

Jamn is 100% right. If you call your current company (SBC, Verizon, AT&T etc etc etc) and ask if any paper work has been submitted by Vonage you will get a No everytime. Vonage does not take care of porting. They outsource througha 3rd party (XO, Choice One, etc). These are the companies you need to complain about.

So far the best way to get this taken care of is to file a claim with the FCC and your State's CSC. Make sure you know who the 3rd party is that is supposedly taking care of your transfer and file the complaints agasint them. Do not file agaisnt Vonage otherwise you will not get anywhere.
