Hey all, I've been a very happy Vonage customer since September of '04. Now.... the problem! I am using Rogers (3meg) with a Moto SB5100, i have the motorola voice gateway feeding into a D-Link DI-524 Wireless (up 2 date firmware) About 3 weeks ago I bought a new powerbook, everything worked fine for a couple of days, Used bittorrent and limewire just as i did with my PC, with no major issues. I started to notice that with either one of those programs open my browser took forever to load basic web pages (if at all) and Messenger wouldn't login, ect, ect. Long story short, internet connection works great if i take the voice gateway out of the picture, it doesn't matter what i am downloading, how much bandwidth i'm using - it just works. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this conflict - issues with ports? the problem doesn't seem to care if i'm on the phone or not.. the only think i have found that has any bearing on the issue is the gateway. Anybody have any ideas? Sorry if this makes no sense - It's 3:00am and i just got done a 12 hour shift. Thanks |

It's better to place your Voice Gateway in the DMZ of your router. Alot of these voice gateways have poor NAT or port forwarding implmentations which causes them to choke. |
