Ok guys.. I've read for two days, and I still do not have a clear answer...
Here's the scenerio --
Cable -- Linksys RP Vonage Box --- ISA Server box ---- Switch --- bunch of computers
I cannot get VPN to work no matter what.
I take the Vonage box out, works like a champ.
Put it back in, the VPN dies at authentication when i try to login from the external world...
I have tried setting up port forwarding, and that didn't work.
I have put the ISA server in the DMZ on the Linksys box, still no dice.
Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Thanks! |

IPSec Passthrough: Enable
PPTP Passthrough: Enable
L2TP Passthrough: Enable
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make sure that these settings are done in the router..

PPTP is broken in the firmware although L2TP/IPsec connections work fine. |

What is the source of this information... that PPTP is broken in the firmware?
I too have had problems ever since installing the Vonage Linksys RT31P2 router. I can no longer get my VPN to work from another router (Linksys BEFW11S4) that's behind the Vonage router.

the passthrough stuff on the router is 100% useless.
I'm talking connecting to my LAN here from elsewhere.
I don't have a need to connect to a vpn internally, i need to get to MY VPN from wherever I may roam. |

What ohknats mentioned about PPTP has been mentioned many times here before. VPN connections from inside your LAN to an external network work just fine. But for some reason, trying to open a VPN connection from an external address into your own internal network, no matter how many ports you open, PPTP just doesn't seem to get past the RT31P2.
I think I remember reading that someone contacted Linksys directly and got a response acknowledging that it doesn't work, but that was all Linksys said about it. And because the firmware in the RT31P2 isn't updateable by the end user, Linksys probably isn't going to make any modifications unless the request comes from Vonage. So if you're trying to use PPTP then you may be out of luck. |

Wouldn't setting up an additional router here help?
/--> RT31P2
modem -> new_router -
\ --> LAN systems
