Whenever I place call to India or any other international location using Vonage, voice quality is very bad on both the ends. It works very well if I use Reliance India calling service, but Vonage voice quality is bad.
I called customer service (yes, they answered me after 20 minutes on hold) and he says that we are setting up the international infrastructure, if so then why advertising for International calling, customers are wasting money due to this.

I had same issues.
If I call big city like B'lore or H'bad then the quality is OK. But if I call any number in small towns then voice quality is terrible (that too if it connects)
It's weird that it connects well to BSNL (Govt.) phone system but non-Govt. phones like Reliance or Tata landline then it never connects. |

I have had issues calling Baroda. The sound quality was very poor and the voice was constantly fading. |

The carrier Vonage uses for completing international calls is being changed because of the quality and success rate of the current one.
There is really nothing tech support and CS can do about this, until the carrier is switched. |

so this means, we just have to accept the sound quality until it's fixed? When is this suppose to occur?
Atleast Vonage issues credit if requested. They have credited two of my international calls because of sound quality. I usually submit the request in the billing cycle, and it's applied the next day. |

unfortunately that seems to be the case. there are many, many other Voip providers out there (not to say they have better connections, I have no clue) but it wouldn't hurt investigating over at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/voip of course, it may be great next week, so it's a gamble either way. but Vonage is not the end all be all Voip provider. |

ture dat, but generally Vonage has a better infrastructure for domestic calls. I read many reviews and forums before signing up for Vonage, and all hands pointed to Vonage for a good Voip company.
I can, for the time being, settle with international calls via Vonage. As long as they credit me, i'll be happy. |

I have a similiar experience as the first poster. I can make a connection to my parents in Calcutta, but they cannot hear me, nor can I hear them.
I just use RelianceIndia in the meantime. I've had no problems at all with their service beyond the service being busy at maximum capacity.
FYI, I have 96% QoS with Linksys 3RP2P1 or whatever it's called, and my domestic calls are fine, so I'm 100% sure it's on Vonage's own end to make connections internationally. |
