I need some suggestions or avenues to take and wanted to see if anyone on this forum had them.
For the record, I am very happy Vonage customer, enjoy the service, etc. My problem is that SBC has been continuing to bill even though the LNP transfer was completed on January 3rd, 2005. SBC is saying that on the 10th of January, Vonage sent a request to cancel the number port. I explained to the SBC rep that in fact the transfer has occurred as I do not use a POTS phone anymore, SBC disagrees and says I am still using the SBC line. Wrong.
I even provided to SBC a purchase order to which they still did not acknowledge the transfer happened. If there is an error on vonage’s part I expect to be reimbursed for the two months of bills I am still receiving from SBC.
How should I proceed? |

Arghhhh, SBC.... it was a very happy day when my SBC number ported over to Vonage and I was finally able to bid SBC adieu.
Sounds like you are caught in the middle - Since you already provided documentation to SBC to support your concern, I'd suggest contacting your state's Public Utility Commission to file a complaint against SBC.
Although Vonage may have dropped the ball somewhere, you (SBC's customer) attempted to remedy the issue by sending documentation to SBC. Since SBC apparently wasn't responsive to your attempts to help straighten out the situation, it's probably worth appealing to your state's Utility Commission (since SBC falls within their area of authority).
I hope this helps some. Good luck! |

Frankly, I would just send your state's Public Utility Commissioner whatever documentation you have sent SBC, along with an explanation of the issue. SBC is far more likely to respond to your PUC's inquiries than to yours, and you'll at least get a definitive response. Be sure to ask that any SBC charges since your port date be nullified (or refunded, if you've already paid).
Right now, you're in limbo (which, if your SBC bill is anything like mine was, is NOT a good place to be). |
