Does anyone currently use Vonage for their business? I would be interested in hearing about any problems you have encountered. I would normally have 3 phone lines going at once (one for fax/payment processing and 2 regular lines). Thanks for any input.

Works fine for me... but you may want to have a landline for backup. Occasionally your internet or Vonage may go down... thus leaving you phoneless Sad

I made the mistake of signing up for "Business Unlimited" because I thought that was the only way to get a 2nd fax line (late night internet ordering = not reading all the details.. Wink ).

I just called today to request that I be switched to Residential Unlimited - because the phone is used at home - not for business purposes.

The CS rep said it would be easier for them to cancel my account and have me re-order, but doing so would loose my number (which I have already given out). I said that cancelling and re-ordering would not be an option.

They put in a ticket to change my service from Business Unlimited to Residential Unlimited - apparently management has to review it. I hope the change goes through without a problem - especially since I'm only in day 2 of using the service.

Response from Vonage:

In response to your request, currently we are not downgrading Business
account rate plans to Residential rate plans. We have taken your
request into consideration that you would like to downgrade your rate
plan to Residential, so we have placed your account under review. You
will have to provide us with a statement as to why you would like to
downgrade your rate plan from Business to Residential. Management will
review your account and make a decision to honor your request after
reviewing the usage on your account.


What is this? I've had the account active for 2 days, 11 minutes - and they wont' change my rate plan?

I hope this is not indicative of service to come.

Issue resolved. Vonage changed me to Residential Unlimited. There was a change fee of $12.99 + tax. I received a $30 credit for the price differential between business and residential.

Although I found it odd that I had to explain an order error and my reasoning for wanting to use the service - upon their request I wrote them explaining my error.

They responded asking me to re-agree to the terms of service (specific to the residential use), which I did.

The change happened 15 minutes thereafter.

So, although unorthodox, the customer service was responsive and did resolve the issue. Very good.
