Got the PAP2 unit from BestBuy 10 days ago and I get noise. I have tried the short 2nd line port hack and the same.
Talked to Vonage and they didn't really notice anything. Yet, my wife especially notices. I have a Uniden Tru 8885 system (5.8Ghz) hooked to it.
I am thinking of going to BestBuy and getting a new PAP2 and trying that. Was wondering peoples thoughts on that course or if have a better solution.
I would even be willing to get Router/Phone combo (though like having separate devices).
Oh the noise is a mix of static and white noise and quite audible.
Thanks, And great forum. Got 1 mth to solve or else wife says no go.

Have you tried a regular corded phone just to rule out any interference from your cordless? Are you hooked directly to the PAP2, or have you wired it into your house wiring? |

No problems with my Linksys PAP2 since Oct 04, when I signed onto Vonage service, to present. I use mine with a Panasonic 5.8Ghz and when I do hear noise it's usually because of the phone. When I first installed the adapter I used a corded phone to test it and was amazed at the clarity of the voice transmission. |

yeah i tried a corded phone and still got the noise. Though thinking of trying again tonight, just to make sure (tried so many things).
Going to have wife call me at work again and see if I can pick up noise on my end. maybe just on home end.
though still think equipment. Oh and no I do not have it hooked to house wiring, direct connect. |

Just curious if you also tried to plug another phone in Port 2 and leave the receiver off the hook...in case you didn't completely short out your other line. |

What version firmware is your pap2 running?
If you do not have 2.0.11 or greater I would see if Vonnage could flag your pap2 for the firmware update and see if that helps the noise.

I am pretty sure you can use the interactive voice response system to find out the version number. I don't have the code with me off-hand, but if you check your manual there should be something in there. |

When I talked to Vonage a few days ago, I had them check the firmware version. He said it was the latest.
To bpoore,
you can also check via your phone connected. In you manual it will show you how to access. **** talks to adapter then you just hit the correct key combo (at work so don't know off hand).
I think I am going to check the firmware myself too just to be sure. Was not able to recheck device last night was busy with a project gonna try tonight. |
