The Autodialer for Vonage® via Callback looks pretty cool. I'll have to try it and post back. I have this question though... Does this actually initiate a 3 way call to do this? I ask because I have the 500 minute plan and I wouldn't want to use double minutes. |

I think it's unlikely. It's an interface to the Vonage callback facility. You can follow the URLs in the source code back and double check, though. Looking at my billing, I see one minute incoming from the CLICK2CALLS, and then, the outgoing time to the number. Since incoming minutes are free, you should be ok. I imagine it just sets up a call transfer and monkeys with the billing. |

Thanks for the response. I'll check out the software soon. |

It would be even better to have the autodialer or softphone to call the number and play a message. Voicent has done that for regular phone lines or use the Voip adaptor. Details can be found at:
http://www.voicent.com/autodialers.php
It would be cool the same functionality can be implemented through softphone. Does anyone know some related sample code or link?
Thanks in advance. |

| If you check the Vonage terms and conditions at https://www.vonage.com/features_terms_service.php, you will find that Vonage does not allow use of "autodialers" on any Vonage account. What they mean by "autodialers" is precisely the kind of bulk dialer for which Andrew Kern is asking. While Vonage is probably not going to get excited about individuals dialing automatically out of their address books for personal calls, bulk dialing with recorded messages will probably get your account retroactively upped to a business account as far back as the eye can see (including relevant toll calls) and your account suspended. So, let's not push the limits....(especially with my code). Fortunately, Xten Softphones for Mac OS X are scriptable in a very limited way. Consequently, they are not going to be easily or reliably used in a bulk dialing scenario at this time. If someone tries bulk dialing with the call back facility, Vonage will doubtless detect it in close to real time... |
