Hi, I am new to Vonage, have had it just for three days now. I have a Motorolla Surfboard cable modem wiht my Comcast service. Have a Linksys PAP2 and Netgear WRG614 wireless router.

When I am on the phone, my connection is very clear, but my computer gets disconnected from the internet automatically after a couple of minutes. Once I hang up the phone, the connection automatically comes back. Can anyone help me with this problem. It is really difficult for me to work from home without the phone.

I have been with Vonage over a year now. I to am having problems with loss of outbound sound. I have tried many "fixes" suggested by the very overworked staff at customer service - they must be because it takes, on average, 45 minutes on hold.
I am experiencing intermittent loss of my voice to whomever I'm talking to. One second we are conversing, the next they are saying hello ????
I can hear them fine, but they cannot hear me and eventually hang up. Last night, I finally got to speak to three reps, who moved me around until I finally got to Vinek - an excellent person who seemed to understand what I was encountering. I got tired of resetting the units over and over. I had just received another new phone adapter on Friday and it was doing the same thing that the other one was doing.
Vinek's theory is that my ISP is having most of the problems with "packet loss" - whatever that is. He very patiently called me on my cell phone because we were encountering the loss while we were talking too. He had me download pingplotter from pingplotter.com and start to record the routing of the internet to any one of the listed web sites. I had it record the routing to Yahoo.com since midnight last night and you can see the problem - every two or three minutes, I encounter a loss of signal, or ping loss, expressed in %. I think that it is definitely my ISP's issue and am worried that I may not be able to reliably use Vonage as a result. I hope this has helped you, my story isn't over either - I need to find out if this is temporary, or if I will have to live with it forever. Good Luck !

My guess, could you have insufficent bandwidth to keep both the computer and Voip conversation working at the same time.

Try running something like a streaming video and run a speed test and see if you have enough bandwidth left to make the call.

Another idea is to go to the your Vonage account screen and change the bandwidth setting to a lower number and see if that helps.

Just an idea, and open to learning.

Thanks for yoru replies. I just tried a couple of things, and noticed that the problem happens only when I am connected with my wireless adapter. If I connect the notebok throught the ethernet directly to my router, both my phone and internet connection work fine.

I have a Airlink PCMCIA adapter, but is a 802.11b adapter.

Your cordless phone is killing your wireless LAN signal. Get a 5.8Ghz cordless, Uniden's seem to be real high quality.

And make sure your 5.8GHz phone is not using 2.4GHz in any way. A friend of mine bought a Vtech system because it was conflicting with his wireless network, only to discover later that Vtech uses 5.8GHz from the base station to the phone, and then 2.4GHz from the phone back to the base station. So his wireless network was causing his voice to drop out, and callers couldn't hear him speaking at times...although he heard them saying "hello, hello...?" as clear as a bell.

Hi I have same problem, when i make calls (sound quality is excellent) with broadband adapter linksys PAP2, every 1-2 minute the wireless router "Siemens Gigaset SE515 DSL" disconnect me from the Internet.
I try with love bandwidth but problem is same Sad
