There are more companies popping up in Canada now. Some of their plans sound good but read the fine print. One company charges an installation fee and a disconnect fee, others charge for voicemail, call display or other features. Vonage, nothing! $19.99, no hassles, no hidden fees and easy to set up.

My plan only includes 500 minutes a month, which is more than enough, and calls 'in network' are free. With all the companies floating around now who offer the same in network deal, I wonder how long it will before someone I know actually gets Vonage service and I can take advantage of in network calls. Still the best deal around I think.

And to answer the previous post, I believe Vonage in Canada charges $39.99 Premium Unlimited for Canada/US & $34.99 Province Unlimited for within Canada only.

Under the 2 week trial period I terminated my Vonage service and was charged $57.49 -- I was informed by phone that when they receive the Linksys Phone adapter I would be refunded everything including the $91+ in setup/delivery fees. When I requested a Return Authorization number the Vonage Customer Care Person informed me that I did not need one -- which was a surprise to me in view of the fact that the Agreement stipulates otherwise -- and when I requested a email confirmation that the RA condition was being waived -- the person agreed to send me one however I have yet to receive that email.

So odinyvr, if your experience is as positive as you suggest and the conditions you believe are as you believe them to be --- well -- good luck to you.

Ya, I know, but Primus and Primus Lingo has some REALLY aggressive pricing these days. Hopefully Vonage steps upto the plate too Smile

if you want a response via e-mail then E-Mail pr@vonage.ca they will get back to you by 1 business day! if they dont' help, and tell you to e-mail customer support, then tell them that customer support does not respond you your e-mail's and you can't get through on teh phone..

I guess I forgot to mention that I purchased an adapter at Staples. Sure I'm stuck with an adaptper that will only work with Vonage, but after rebates the actual cost is only around $25. I don't have to pay install/cancel charges or wait for the adapter refund and I don't pay or wait for shipping to or from Vonage.

The $25 for the adapter will pay for itself in a few months with the lower cost of the plan.

Right now there are some great deals for adapters too. At Staples $65 and the $65 rebate is still good for a few more weeks. London Drugs $15!

The whole process is a lot less complicated buying the adapter retail.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but the adapters that you buy through retain chains also require you to have a router if you want both your adapter and computer to work. Is this correct?

I am saying this because the ones I saw at Staples only had one incoming Ethernet port. There was no outgoing port to the computer.

If this is the case, then you need to include the cost of the router and the probability that your voice calls are not going to take priority.

Yes, right again. I guess I took my home set-up for granted. For the PAP2 adapter ones needs a router in order to share the Cable or DSL connecting with a computer.

One model, the Linksys WRT54GP2 is a wireless router w/adapter all in one. ($99 on sale this week at London Drugs) Purchased through Staples there are a couple of rebates ($65 + $15) offered on the same model, but retails higher at $169.

So in a lot of ways, Vonage was easy for me, considering several factors.

Well thank you for clearing this up!

London Drugs I believe is a western drug store. I do not believe it is available in central Canada or Eastern. It is not available in the Ottawa region of Ontario, or in Montreal Quebec, and when I lived in Nova Scotia it was not available there.
