How ironic to have Comcast research posted here (some of which I've done previously this week)!!! I had to research the company myself this week for work purposes Smile Yes, they are the largest cable company in the country right now. They dwarf their competitors.

And if you have Adelphia, be prepared for the Comcast buyout!

PostPosted: Sat Mar 12, 2005 1:15 am    Post subject: On a Comcast tangent...Vonage needs to outsource CS Reply with quote Back to top

I know this is seriously off topic...

I was a customer of Comcast for a few months after AT&T broadband was bought out, and to tell the truth I noticed an improvement in the service. I left the state I was living in.

Currently, I am a customer of Bright House Networks (an offshoot of Time Warner).

In any event, Comcast's customer service is so good because of one company: Convergys. They outsource their level 1 technical support/customer support to Convergys. Convergys has a huge infrastructure with locations all over the country in many, many states. Though the Convergys company has its detractors (I hear a lot from ex-employees), they do have a reputation for being "pretty good" at handling the customer service for companies. I know Cisco has (or is) using them as well as DirectTV.

This is where I am going: I do not see why Vonage does not make the move and hire a company such as Convergys to handle their customer service. Over time, an outsourcer like Convergys will save Vonage TONS and TONS of money. It would also allow Vonage to concentrate solely on providing top notch network service.

It's just an idea. Vonage isn't a customer service company, why not let a customer service company handle this humungous task and let Vonage concentrate on providing the actual service?

I use to work for Convergys handling incoming calls for AT&T and that does sound like a great idea...more jobs if Vonage goes that route.

Yeah and I don't have cancer, aides, parkinson's, or Diabetes. Guess that would mean there really is no problem - just personal perception.

How nice for you. Mine works well now too (after initially having a number of problems - none of which were the fault of Comcast). Really, what is your point in posting this? Based on your lack of knowledge about Comcast and your "rah, rah Vonage" stuff, I wonder if you're a Vonage employee.

Reading this topic and wanted to throw in my opinion. I am using a PAP2 adaptor on my home network. Using Comcast (only choice that I have). Technically everything has worked as advertised. We have had comcast @home since 1998 and only lost internet 3 or 4 times (other than power outages and scheduled downtime). My issue is with the LNP process. Vonage customers have little to no control over this process. LNP is one thing that does not go as advertised. Hopefully mine goes through today per the email that I received a couple of days ago. Been waiting since Jan 26th.

Same here, waiting since Jan. 26 and they've missed three dates now when my port was scheduled but nothing at all happened. At least when you call them they will credit you for another free month for as long as your port is delayed.

Looks like they've selected a new company to take over the LNP process for them. See the front page of the forum in the News. Perhaps things will improve....
