Post subject: Mazatlan Problem
I think there are more than 30 of us experiencing a problem since many people I know are complaining. Some of live here full time and need the service to stay in touch with family and to conduct business when email fails. Please let us know if there is a solution, otherwise I will be disconnecting
Vonage
and go back to dial up. It was great while it lasted.

While I am sure you all are aware of
1.3.2
in the TOS, I thought it might be a good idea to remind you of it before I receive another 50 PM's from Mexico threating me.
Call your ISP, that is who you have an issue with.
http://www.vonage.com/features_terms_service.php
1.3.2 Use of Service and Device by Customers Outside the United States
While we encourage use of the Service within the United States to other countries,
Vonage
does not presently offer or support the Service to customers located in other countries except Canada. If you remove the Device to a country other than the United States or Canada and use the Service from there, you do so at your own sole risk, including the risk that such activity violates local laws in the country where you do so. You are liable for any and all such use of the Service and/or Device by yourself or any person making use of the Service or Device provided to you and agree to indemnify and hold harmless
Vonage
against any and all liability for any such use. Should the removal from the United States or Canada of the Device violate any export control law or regulation, you will be solely liable for such violation and agree to indemnify and hold harmless
Vonage
against any and all liability for such violation.
Vonage
reserves the right to terminate your Service immediately and without advance notice if it determines that you are using it outside the United States or Canada.

Post subject: solution
hellmex now included a rule against any
Voip
device when using their dsl service
we can not call hellmex prodigy dsl customer service department
simply because they dont allow anyone using
Voip
service
all we need is a solution, or at least an answer saying, hey we can not solve this problem or we will have a solution by next monday
so we all know what to do,
in mexico there are thousands of things that are not supposed to be happening but happen
for instance, we are not supposed to get american directv or dish network
and most of the people get it at their homes, i have both at home
we are not supposed to drive american cars, and mexico is flooded with american cars that do not have license plates, i have one
we are not supposed to have chinese clothes or toys, we are flooded with them
we are not supposed to own arms, and everybody has one.
and the list goes on an on
having
Vonage
in mexico, is as important as driving a car or watching directv
we need a solution, i am sure if
Vonage
cant help, other companies will find a quick solution to get around this hellmex blockage.

Post subject: Vonage in Mazatlan - don't work
I recognize the terms of service and accept that. I was hoping that we could get some leverage from the various vendors to help us. Slim is an extremely powerful person in Mexico. My post simply implied that if we can't get it to work, I don't need to pay the extra money for both
Vonage
and DSL service.
Vonage
looses, Telmex, looses, Prodigy looses, and I loose a potentially valuable service. I would like to see all us all be happy. Telmex gets no long distance revenue from me as I either use a dial around or dial back service.
Vonage
has the potential of a lot of Canadian/American users down here if they can negotiate a working agreement. That's all I am asking you to help us with.

I do not think so, unless you are suggesting that the ports will be opened if they buy higher bandwidth. The problem is, their ISP has blocked ports.
I understand the way of life in Mexico, I also own a home in the Islands.
My issue is, sending me 4 dozens PM's today from all of Mexico is not going to get your service up, nor will I respond to the tone of them.
So to whomever engineered the mass PM to me, let it be know that is not how I operate.

Post subject: Vonage in Mexico
Guys, we provide service through
Vonage
to about 90 clients in Mexico that use Telmex as their ISP. We have had only 3 or 4 complaints about service issues. We found out that those customers had 256 kbs or 512 kbs downlink and 128 kbs uplink. The customers are complaining about loosing connectivity and when they get a dial tone, there is a big delay or the other party cannot hear them. We have done latency and packet loss tests and they come out fine. I have been in contact with
Vonage
tech support and they cant find a solution to these issues. I dont believe they are blocking the ports because all of our customers would have been complaining and that hasn't been the case. I'm clueless on this one. Maybe its only in certain areas or maybe they do need more bandwidth. I hope this clears the point about Telmex blocking ports. I dont think they are.
