I may be wrong, but if I recall right,
VOIP
is illegal in Mexico. The service providers may be blocking the ports for
VOIP
in Mexico to comply with that stupid money hungry law.
I wish you all the best.
them backward 'hicks' (just a phrase, no intent to bash anyone) down there. it figures.

Post subject: not illegal
voip
is not illegal in mexico
using
voip
providers that are not licensed by the mexican fcc is
we have several new
voip
providers that just started operations this january, mexican version of att, mci and a mexican one called voxip
but they all suck, like most of the services that are offered in this country
they are expensive, and they can never compare to
vonage
or any other offer in the usa.
well even the licensed
voip
providers have problems with hellmex, their ports are getting blocked also, att had to stop their service for 6 months,
what can they do, companies file a complaint with the mexican fcc, and hellmex gets fined with a ridiculous 10,000 dollar fine, hellmex just laughs at everybody, they are a mean viscious telephone monopoly
and they do it all over again
hellmex has been stealing 100 million mexican phone users for about all their lives
they control all the local calls, long distance, international long distance, dial up and dsl internet, e1 lines , copper lines, etc..
we mexican consumers are feeding this monster, that keeps buying companies in all latin america, companies of all types
even the united states, hellmex, owns COMPUSA, AND THEY WERE PLANNING ON BUYING CIRCUIT CITY, and a number of other companies in the usa
i know that phone companies will some day disapear, we will get broadband throught the electricity and everyone will have a
voip
phone
long distance, international long distance will be eliminated
we all know this and hellmex knows this, they just keep trying to suck all they can, while it lasts

Post subject: No Vonage drops after....
I have
Vonage
for 7 months. For 5 of those months I was getting dropped. Eventually traced the cause to a bad wireless phone base unit Uniden Model: DXI 986-2 Series, it's a 900mhz. Tied a different phone to the same wall plug and have not had any problems since. Yes, Uniden is giving me another set. It seems
Vonage
might want to look into this as it almost made me switch
VOIP
suppliers.( I thought it was
Vonage
's problem, not Uniden's. And Uniden has honored the trouble. They appear to both be fine companies trying to take care of a crazy market nitch.
Got the replacement phones working today! All is fine.
Turns out the base unit for the Uniden phones would not hold a registration on the phone line.
The new phone (same models) registered with no trouble.

Post subject: Packet Blocking by ISP
When I first got
Vonage
I had multiple problems answering calls etc. After
Vonage
finally gave up and said "we can't fix it" they suggested I have my modem changed. Seems I had an older Surfboard modem with RR. TIme Warner provided me with a new modem that is the same as used for their
VOIP
service.
Vonage
has been perfect since.

I can tell you that Road Runner, at least here in Central Florida are not blocking anything...
I would like to know if
Vonage
customer service is now outsourced to the middle east somewhere as I've been hung up on twice this morning by technicians with Middle Eastern accents ....
This is "Customer Disservice"
