Was having problems with SBC DSL here in Houston. My connection would drop every hour or so, then reconnect within 30 sec. Needless to say my phone call would get disconnected. I fired SBC and went to TWC Road Runner and everything is working great here. Hope I did not list too much in my sig. but wanted everyone to know what else I have working on

A little tweakage during the day sometimes, but nothing major. Located in the Chicago area and Comcast seems to be working fine so far. (knock on wood)

Post subject: Vonage blocked in Los Barriles/ Buena Vista Baja Sur, Mexico
Telmex "attacked" our
Vonage
service beginning last Friday, leaving scores of users in our BCS/Mexico community to scramble. We've tried adjusting "Bandwidth Saver" to no avail. All tests at places like "testyourviop.com" and "speakeasy" indicate serious problems.
Vonage
tech support no help at all, no return of volumes of email, long on-hold wait times often just hung up on in the end!! Telmex says that the Async-DSL service the provide doesn't guarantee upload speeds sufficient to support any particular application. We can't tell if it is just a bandwidth issue or something more "intrusive" on Telmex's part. Any ideas for a work around? Only alternative seems to be to DirecWay to keep
Vonage
services available (several DirectWay-
Vonage
users in the area are not having any problems)?

Damn, now I really feel for you bros south of the border. Time to go satellite/wireless. Maybe call a satellite company and see whether they can provide affordable broadband access to ya down in Mex... Then u can kiss your landbased DSL/cable goodbye.

I have RoadRunner in Minneapolis. Seems to be working as of 3-11-05.
Thanks for the alert!
Why would ISP's be blocking
Vonage
? Competition?

Post subject: Mine's out again.
I have Comcast Super Highspeed Internet here in Massachusetts. Second time this week. Last Tuesday it went out (no dial tone) and I tried everything. Nothing worked. Next morning, I had a dial tone! Then this afternoon it went out again.
My internet connection is working fine.
Kind of interested in the Mazatlan string. My father lives down there year round.

I may be wrong, but if I recall right,
VOIP
is illegal in Mexico. The service providers may be blocking the ports for
VOIP
in Mexico to comply with that stupid money hungry law.
I wish you all the best.
