The tech guy did not call yesterday at 9pm but it seems like I don't have the problem anymore. No one-way-audio problem with incoming calls since Thursday 10th. What about you guys?

I have had Vonage service since December 2004 and it's been working great - up till last Friday when we started experiencing this same or a similar problem: On incoming calls (every time), I can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. Outgoing calls are no problem.

I've tried rebooting my router (Linksys RT31P2) and cable modem a few times, and tried to open a support ticket online. After the initial message (telling me to reboot my router), I've not had any response back from Vonage even after repeated emails from me. Due to a busy schedule with work and needing to travel, I just haven't had time to call and sit on the phone - and I won't ask my wife to deal with this. She is frustrated by the fact that, as a workaround, we now need to let every call go to voicemail, and then she has to call the person back. I was hoping that the problem would go away, but I guess I need to actually call Vonage, which I will do tonight or tomorrow after work.

Anyway, does anyone know if anything changed about a week ago (around the 3rd or 4th of March), like a new firmware update for the Linksys units, or a change in the Vonage network, that could have caused this to start happening?

Edit: From reviewing the forums here, I already knew about the problems last week, but didn't think that it would extend to this week. I did find this news article here: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050305/ap_on_bi_ge/vonage_outage&e=5

which seems to suggest that problems began with the software update Thursday night (March 3rd) - which is close to when I started having trouble with incoming calls.

Well I'm glad other people are having this problem also. I'm a new Vonage subscriber. I finally talked my wife into switching and I activated last week. I've been having the problem since then. Intermittent outbound audio on inbound calls (they can't hear me). I'm using the Linksys PAP2 box. I have no packetloss, and great roundtrip ping times. I don't know what to do.

Has anyone heard anything from Vonage? My wife didn't want me to switch our phone (b/c they couldn't port our number) So, she's REALLY not happy that its not working properly. Help!

I too have the same router. It has firmware upgrade 2.0.13 L16. I received the upgrade already installed in my rt31p2. some are receiving upgrades online (from v 1.27.01). My “they cant hear me” problem started about March 8 +/-. The only thing that changed for me was... Vonage authorized the 2nd phone port on my router. Do any of you have a 2nd telephone number/port activated on your router? I also have the “Unhappy Wife” issue. Wants the lower fees... but service that is just the same as our other Verizon service. Thats not toom much to ask for.

This may have to do with the same problem, not sure. Most of the time when someone calls me, when I answer, they say that it never rang on their end. So they call, my phone is ringing, but all they hear on their end is silence until I answer. Anyone else have that issue?

Well as of last night the problem with incoming calls seems to be gone. Still no email reply from Vonage. Maybe this was all a problem with the Vonage servers?

-shrug-

Korry, I haven't had any callers tell me about that problem (not hearing the ring on their side).

Well I've had a problem free day today, so far, so maybe they got the problem fixed.

I too am having this problem. Its guaranteed that when one particular person calls us they won't be able to hear us. I also have problems with outbound calls not being loud enough. I've tried calling before but gave up after about 45-minutes. I've submitted multiple email messages to support with no replies.

Vonage needs to #1 fix their customer service issues, 45-minutes + too answer a support call is unacceptable. #2 they need to resolve these qos issues.

This needs a resolution soon or some (any) other Voip provider will be getting my business.
