With poor customer support a given with Vonage, has anyone considered keeping a spare router around? You can even buy Voip compatible phones that have routers built in, but I don't know what would be required to get them to work with the Vonage service. Has anyone looked into any ways to have a backup router ready to go in case the Vonage-provided router dies? Question

it won't work. Vonage doesn't have a byod plan. of course you can go buy another Vonage device and have it sit in the box...and if you router dies you can call up with the mac of the one you had handy. not a very cost effective solution imo, but if your phone is that important, it may not be a bad idea.

I was thinking about mentioning that, but then you're stuck with another monthly bill and a different phone number. yeah you could set your line that's down to forward or something, but I didn't really see that as a backup option.
are you using it for backup?

Yes, I am only looking for a backup plan in case the Vonage router dies and leaves me dealing with customer service for days.
