1. The intent of the law was to allow people to transfer phone number.
2. Vonage wants new customers
3. The customers want to keep their numbers or they would not have pressured congress for the law.
4. If Vonage wants satisfied customers then they had better get their act together on this number transferring.
I don't want to hear the excuse that the other phone companies are the problem. Then start filing complaints with the FCC and lets get some fines going.
You are asking people to sign up for your service and this is just one of the things that you have to do to get their service.
Get to it.
I would like to know why you are posting on the website that some area codes cannot be transferred. I saw no exceptions in the law passed by congress. |

I voted "NO" Qwest in Seattle WA. 18 business days to port line, not too bad. |

I voted no as well. Started process on Feb 8 and it was completed on Feb 28. This was a total 20 calender days, which was faster then the 20 business days (which would of put out transfer sometime in march). |

Where are you from? It seems that the time frame for porting varies depending on what area of the country you're in and what company you're porting from.
I'm in southern New Hampshire with Comcast digital phone service...anyone else? |

I also voted "No". Mine took exactly 20 business days.
I also think it has a lot to do with where you are porting from. It's the incumbent carrier not wanting to let go that is causing the delay (most of the time). |

This might help you understand the issue a little better:

I'm sorry to say I voted yes. It's business day 31 and still no transfer date or even status update. Awaiting an email from the LNP dept today or tomorrow with a tentative date. |

It may be true that Qwest is fast. I will not dispute that.
We are in Sprint country down in the SE. Now I will concede that if Sprint was doing its job with customer service there might not be as many people looking to jump to VOIP and Vonage.
Do not mis-understand my position about Vonage. I want to help. I would not have had so many of my friends sign up for the service.
My point is that Vonage needs to be better about transferring numbers. A normal customer does not understand the logistics of the process and Vonage does. You cannot tell a customer that they cannot have their old number when they can!
The law contains all that is necessary for number portability to be a reality and I believe that if Vonage wants to continue to grow at this rate they need to pay closer attention to that particular customer need.
Just my opinion and advice, take it for what it is worth. |

I had to vote yes considering my LOA was received and sent to carrier on Jan 26. Vonage has credited my account for the time over 20 business days. Frustrating to me that people with the same phone company (SBC) and live in the same area (SE Michigan) got their numbers transferred in less than 20 business days! One guy sent his in a week after me and his number was ported over last week. He only lives 30 miles from me. Other than the LNP, I have been impressed by Vonage |
