Hi, i am trying to use Vonage outside US, and after following the installation wizard diligently, i get a dial-tone but get a 'fast busy signal' when ever i make calls.

The router's status page says 'can't connect to login server' for the phone 1 status.

Please help!!

for whatever reason, you can't connect to Vonage. your isp is probably blocking the ports.

If you can't surf from the PC as well as the Vonage line not connecting, your cable company may be looking for the MAC address connected to the modem. You might try cloning the PC's MAC address into your router so that it can connect then.

If you can surf but Vonage still won't connect, use your landline and call hold for Vonage tech support.

You also may be able to clear the MAC that is registered by powering off your modem and waiting a minute before powering up, and be sure that the RT31P2 (or what ever you have for a phone adapter) is first in line after the modem.

I have the same problem trying to use Vonage outside of US.
I can surf the net and the tftp test passes ok.
I have PPPoE connection and everything else seems to work fine but the phone part.
Looks like my ISP is blocking the necessary ports but I need to know exactly what they are so I can negotiate with them to open the ports.
I e-mailed Vonage's tech support but nobody has replied more than a week ago.
I sniffed the traffic when booting the router and noticed some UDP traffic (src port: 45295 and dst port: 9231) but nothing seems to come back from Vonage.
Can somebody help me solving this problem?

Thanks!

If any of these are blocked the service may not work. Make sure these are all open through your ISP and any 3rd party routers with Firewalls.

5060-5061- Voice traffic for the Motorola MTA's

69 - DNS

53 - TFTP port (to register and get XML updates)

123 (Caller ID port Smile

10,000-20,000 - Main Voice traffic ports

These are all UDP protocols.
