PostPosted: Tue Mar 08, 2005 4:56 pm    Post subject: Transfer Vonage 800 number Out? Reply with quote Back to top

Hi!
Trying to find out if it is possible to transfer a Vonage 800 number out? We have Vonage for home and local business number and an 800 number right now. We want to keep the 800 number but potentially might select another provider for the 800 service just so we don't have all eggs in one basket. Does anyone know the answer?
Thanks.

This isn't a practical answer, more of a academic one:

One would assume that gaining access to the pool of toll free numbers requires that you support portability.

Have you considered this as an alternative solution?

So you didn't read the URL. You can choose any number that you like because it is a Virtual Phone for $5 per month. Your PSTN can't beat that, but you never mentioned that your number was a Vonage number until now.

I did read teh thread and realize my initial post was probably worded unclearly.....sorry for confusion.

Let me try to express what I am trying to do a little more clearly. We have Vonage for all the numbers, home, business and 800. We have been looking into some sort of call queuing acd or pbx solution and are considering going to the got vmail service (www.gotvmail.com) to perform the call queuing and routing. This would require either a new 800# or transfer of the Vonage 800 to the got vmail service and then route the calls to the various local Vonage numbers we use for the business. Haven't called Vonage customer service since I don't really want to wait on hold forever and am hoping someone here may have found out if you can transfer the number.

My concern is Vonage will not allow the transfer of the 800 number. If not then we will keep the Vonage 800 and forward all calls to that number to the new 800 number, but that will result in us paying twice for the same call. Want to avoid that if possible.
