If you think his maxpause is bad look at this. And to be honest I haven't had many problems at all. So, what does it really all mean???

I am using the Linksys RT31p2 with firmaware version 1.27.01 and Mac OS X and have been pretty lucky in that it was basically just plug and play for me.

it means testyourvoip.com, detailed results is the gold standard for Voip tests right now. if you want some answers to choppy, broken, garbled voice, look there first. unless you have a pcx1100 modem. then you can replace it first.
poppajohn: if you went to a multi-voip forum or another Voip company specific forum, you would never use Voip with that logic.

Actually I do have a Toshiba pcx 1100 cable modem. Guess I'll call today and see how willing RR is to replace it.

That move to a caused a compatability issue with my old Vonage router. I needed to get a new Linksys RT31p2 , so be aware. For some reason, the Motorola SB4100 and the old router do not like each other.

I went to the site that someone suggested in the forum to rate your Voip. My rating was 4.4

That is REALLY strange. I have no dial tone, and have been without a phone since Sunday. How can some site test a non-working Voip.

BTW if some of my posts seem edgy it is because I am trying to get back on the telephone, using this forum and emailing.

Basically, all I have gotten so far is "It is your fault, not ours" sort of **** and that is not good. I am justifiably livid. [/quote]

if it's testyourvoip.com that you're referring to, then two things are obvious. one is you aren't using the golden phone test (which I don't think anyone does, at least not that I've seen) and second that you haven't read the faq.

long story short, the regular (non golden phone) test doesn't use any Voip line you do or don't have, it measures your internet/network statistics, which play a large role in the quality of your calls.

PappaJohn, we can't really talk about the other guys in this forum since its about Vonage. I will say that I've tried every other major player in the Voip arena in my area. Of those, Vonage is the most stable, has the best call quality and pretty much just works. Voicepulse is also very good but I've had voice quality issues with them.

As always, your mileage may vary. Customer service stinks with all of them.
