The units are pieces of crap that get recycled, but not repaired. I know this because I allegedly got a new one to replace my current RT31P2 router. It had scratches on it, and was DOA.

Wow, interesting. Mine came in a box that had another label on it where a customer had previously shipped it back to Vonage. I can't imagine they would have used that box to ship me a new router. It also had v1.25 firmware on it, which is pretty old. I assumed it was from a customer who had just cancelled service, but maybe it was a bad one returned to Vonage and then given to me.

Your haughty and misanthropic speech really keeps people away, though. You've spoken very unkindly to jdr, who is a Vonage rep who works these boards on a volunteer basis (as i understand it) and does not get paid to help you. The copies of the PM's you have sent him seem to me to be extremely rude. If I were him, I wouldn't be so accepting...

I understand the trials you have been through, and I hope you can get the service working for you. I also hope you can find enough common decency to treat the people here who are going out of their way to help you a bit more respectfully.

Such an accusation has no merit.

It is an ad hominum attack stating that I have personally attacked jdr. Nothing can be further from the truth. In no way have I gone near to the level that you accuse me of doing. Please read this from the original post.

Perhaps this is the wrong forum for expressing my legitimate indignation, but it is the ONLY way I can get attention.

Since the problem is not caused by non payment, or me fiddling with things, only two things will satisfy me now:

1) IMMEDIATE OVERNIGHT (not having it go through 6 people first) of a new NO CHARGE router.

2) COMPLETE REFUND on this month's bill

There are other VOIPs out there, and my Time Warner cable has NEVER been out. As you may guess, I am quite dissatisfied with Vonage at present.

As can be clearly seen, the issue is in focus, not any person. I am still without any phone service, and will be until I get a new router.

You will also note my desparation in the underlined part.

Nor is this reply an attempt to flame either jdr or Josh Holt.

Yet it is also clear from other posts that Vonage DOES recycle its routers. Thus my experience with a DOA router is not that unusual.

Josh, you may have thought that the heifer remark was a bit over-the-top. It wasn't. If you looked at the other threads as I did, then you will see a pattern of problems. Many have to do with the same router, and another thread has to do with lousy customer service, jdr30 excluded.

No sarcasm intended here, but can you imagine what it is like having no phone, and then trying to go through the channels of the website and getting the site hung up about six times?

Thus the words used against me, haughty, misanthropic, unkind and (lacking) common decency are egregiously excessive and flat-out wrong.

In other words, you flamed me, and that is against the rules of this forum. I will not respond in kind other than to say that your tone in the letter is rather disappointing.

Please get your facts in order before you use such nasty, accusing words.

Finally, I am wondering about your need to take offense over something not directed to you personally, and scold me publically. JDR30 is a big boy; he can speak for himself. But that is another matter.

BTW I still do not have any dial tone, and THAT is the main issue.

Maybe it's just me, but I read your comment and had the same reaction Josh did. Maybe it's just the way you presented yourself due to your frustration.

Anyway, I hope it works out for you.

Thanks to a tier 2 tech, Steven M and his probing around, I am back on the phone.

However there is still a problem with the online help to get into tech support. Tried it a few minutes ago, and hung up AGAIN.

Seems to me that there is problems with the server, and that there MUST be a way to contact Vonage in a similar circumstance.

For those who criticized my "attitude", please remember:
1) that I had tried to follow the recommended protocols getting the situation resolved, but the web site was screwed up
2) the problem was caused by Vonage sending me a DOA router replacement
3) It took that sort of "attitude" to get attention and eventually solve the issue

It is one thing to express justifiable, righteous indignation, and quite another to be abusive to people. I did the first, but never did the latter.

I have a problem where I can get dialtone if I keep the phone off hook while booting, but as soon as I hang up, dialtone's gone. In the status section, it tells me that the line is idle, and I cannot get dialtone.

I've read where Vonage has done things on their end to fix this, and was wondering if anyone had more insight.
