Avoid the 9.99 fax fee?

Any way to avoid this fee? It seems rather excessive considering I receive less than 10 faxes a month. Right now I use BellSouth's ringmaster service. Anything comparable with Vonage?

Is it possible to send fax through the 1st line on the ATA? Or do you need to have the added fax line? I mean if I were to hook up a fax machine /w phone shouldn't I be able to send and recieve faxes?

You can unplug your telephone and plug in the fax machine; however, if the call is not in your local area (and you are not a unlimited user account) the time it takes to send the fax would count against your 500 monthly minutes.

I frequently use line 1 to send faxes with my computer and use the fax line and my fax machine to receive incoming faxes. No problems here.

All Vonage is doing by offering a fax line is stripping out all the voice features (call waiting, voicemail, etc) so they can offer a lower price on a second line dedicated for faxing. If you want a separate number that only rings your fax, you need that line.

If you just do light faxing and are ok with saying that your fax number is the same as your voice number, you don't need the fax line.
