In July 2004 I began what I hoped would be an easy transition to Vonage with my Frontier Telephone line. It has been anything but easy. I urge everyone with transfer problems to not make the mistake I've made by trying to wait them out. Cancel your account so you can keep the rights to your wired phone number and take your business elsewhere.
I have attempted nine times to transfer my number to Vonage. On each occasion a date is given, it is always missed, and they won't say a word to you until you write and complain. Then, it's simply a new date which is also missed, and the process starts all over.
Phoning customer service is a waste of time. Constant busy signals, being put on hold for 15-20 minutes when their system finally just tells you to call back and hangs up on you, unanswered e-mails, and a customer service department that could care less about you and your problems.
You are effectively paying for two phone bills during this, and they have little incentive to prioritize your problem because they are still getting paid. Don't waste your money a day more. Cancel your account and find a provider who can bother to answer their phone, actually cares about your situation, and will call you to alert you to problems instead of simply sending out canned e-mails with new dates that are never met. |

It could be that you havent properly followed procedure and they are denying the paperwork coming in and they certainly dont call everyone telling them that they did or didnt get the paperwork.
you need a recent 30days of your frontier bill and the agreement form. if 30 days past then get new ones or it wont fly ! then fax the information to Vonage, i own my fax and sent the items 20 times at once and then in 2 days i seen in the control panel that they are attempting to port it, then in 18 days later it was ported.
paperwork can be lost ya know, they do get 500,000 customers a week. Could you imagine that many items popping in off a fax machine???? |

I am in a similar situation. I have been trying to port my number since September of 2004. There have been at least seven attempts. . |

Thanks for your insight. However, when I speak to Vonage, they indicate I have sent them all of the correct paperwork, so there isn't anything I should be doing on my end.
There may be light at the end of the tunnel as they have given a new scheduled date -and- a message on the Vonage site indicating the carrier approved the transfer.
If it does fly, then it's time to pursue eight months of credit! |
