Post subject: What's the Hype with Skype?
I've noticed in the past few months that Skype has been gaining popularity. It's even used for business calls. I still don't know why it's so popular? Isn't this service basically the same as voice chatting via MSN Messenger? That is, it's just PC-to-PC calling. Big deal! I personally hate having voice conversations via a computer (microphone and speakers).
What can be better than
Voip
service that you can use your regular cordless phone and walk around the house?!?!?
Over 10 years ago, I used a program from VocalTec called Internet Phone which allowed you to do the same thing. It was impressive back then, but it's old school.

Skype will also do computer-to-phone calls as well. In one section they say that they want money to use it that way, in another they say don't pay if you don't want to. Go figure. You still need a connection fast enough to handle the bandwidth.
