Post subject: Help!!Configured DI 604-Now Probs w/Outlook & Vonage!!!!
I went and configured my router to the below settings I found in a search in the Broadband Reports D-link router forum:
"For Maximum security!
Tools--misc
Discard ping from wan side= enabled
UPNP= disabled
Gaming mode= disabled
VPN pass-through: PPTP= disabled IPSEC= disabled
Dynamic DNS: DNNS= disabled
Advanced Virtual Server:
Here you want to set Port 113 to misdirect anyone scanning your ports to a nonexisting computer on your network, thus stealthing the port.
Enabled
Name=Ident
Private IP= 192.168.0.199
Private port= 113
Public port= 113
Protocol= Both
Schedule= always
Status--log--log settings:
Here you want to turn off logging since it will probably give alot of false messages you don't need to worry about.
Uncheck all boxes."
After I was done I had problems with outlook-got the hourglass that wouldn't quit and did the contrl/alt/delete and started it in safe mode. It eventually loaded and then got an error message when I tried checking for new email. It eventually did download my email-now I tried opening outlook again, and got the hourglass in safe mode and it loaded after about 1 1/2 minutes and then was able to download email again.
I also am having problems with my
Vonage
which was working perfect before I started changing the settings for the router. If I make an outgoing call, I can hear them, but they cannot hear me. If they call me everything is fine???
Did I do something wrong??
I have:
XP home edition
Zone Alarm Pro
Spybot S & D
SpywareGuard
Ad-aware
SpywareBlaster
3com modem (fin)
DLink-604
RoadRunner
I'm a newbie-thanks for any help!!

Without knowing more about your setup it's difficult to give any good advice.
The best thing I can tell you is to reset the router ( usually a contact switch on the device ) and see if the problems persist. If you still have problems I would get in contact with your IP provider or contact a local computer professional.
