I recently tried to dial my ISP (Road Runner) and couldn't with my Vonage connection, any idea why this won't work?

do other numbers work? what # was it? (800, local, etc) I've called roadrunner before, but of course they have many numbers.

sorry, the subject was enough but I didn't notice it. chances are it's a regional 800# that can't be dialed from Vonage. you should find your local tech support number or use their live chat or email support at www.rr.com
they can also give you your local helpdesk number if you can't find it.

I just dialed that number for the heck of it, and fr a split second i thought I was going to get a reorder signal, but then it actually said "the number you have dialed is not avail. from your calling area" when I call my cable company it goes through, when I call my cell phone provider I get a reorder signal.. this is something I really wish they would set up better.

Why does it matter where the 866 # is? You are telling me Vonage doesn't do local 866 #'s? Why not?

Vonage better fix this soon or I will leave. I call food stamps which is 866 I also need to call Social Secuity at times 800 # and my bank. I already had trouble calling food stamps if this keeps up I will have to switch to a Voip that allows every # in US to be called.

the number routes through Vonage in NJ so the ANI is actually an NJ area code. so regional 800 #'s that are based on ANI won't take your call (unless you live around the NJ region)

Vonage is crappy I highly doubt I will be here in 3 months. Blocking 800 # should be againt the law. FCC should sue Vonage over this.

This may or may not be able to change in the future, but as far as I can tell it is a Voip problem, not a Vonage problem. Most companies that have a regional toll-free number also have a local number that could be used as well. You may want to see if one is available.
