Only the linksys systems support this option. Once everyone (or mostly everyone)is using either a PAP2 or a RT then this feature will be activated. If you call tech support to get this enabled I bet 4/5 techs will not even know what this is ... lol

This would be an especially good feature on my Toll Free number!! I wrote an e-mail to Vonage inquiring about it some time ago but received back a canned reply that did not address the question. I have a Linksys RT router and am looking forward to this feature!

They won't do it, and the rep that did it for ths guy would probably be fired if they found out he did it. I agree it is something that should be offered, but right now they are strongly against it.

Who are "They" and why would Vonage be against it? The competiter, Packet8 offers it. If the technology is in place to offer it then I can't understand the reluctance.

I just contacted customer care where I spoke to a Customer Service representative named "Keno." I asked him IF and WHEN ACR was going to be implemented, and he put me on hold, contacted his supervisor, came back to the call and said, "If you want to know when this will be offered, call back on Monday or Tuesday and we will have a date!"
For further confirmation I asked for the name of his supervisor, whose name is Bob Perry.
I got the entire conversation on tape.
BTW, they answered very quickly. I was not on the phone longer than 15 minutes.

We ALL should call on Monday and Tuesday and demand a date of implementation! I am glad I taped this conversation, as I got tired of hearing "It is coming soon" for the last nearly two years!
Next step is to download the taped conversation to my computer.

Anyone other than me have this feature yet? Over one year with no problems.

PostPosted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 8:20 pm    Post subject: Anonymous Call Block - better answer Reply with quote Back to top

I dont think that Anonymous Call Blocking goes far enough. I want to be able to place a phone number on a list (of 20 or more numbers) that will be intercepted when anyone tries to call me from any of the numbers in a list and informs the caller that their phone number has been blocked and the subscriber has been informed of the attempted call (look on the activity list - the call will be listed with the word BLOCKED next to it), and that if the caller wants to return the call, they have that option.

Meanwhile, I have a much more flexible solution: a voice/fax/data modem with Caller ID, a copy of Phone Tray Free (software) and a load of .WAV files with all kinds of phone company messages such as The Number you have dialed is temporarily out of service and The subscriber does not receive blocked calls. I can isolate any number, associate it with any .WAV file, and allow my PC/Modem/Phone Tray system to pick up the call on the first ring and play the selected message. All calls still go through to my Activity List, and Phone Tray also records the time, date, (and Caller ID info, if provided) locally on my PC.

I can easily defeat any telemarketer so long as I know what phone number they are calling from. I can even record a wave file with a message for a friend, and when they call me I can have my message played just for the call from that phone number (e.g. - Hey Joe. I'm not home right now. I know I said that I would meet you at Sam's, but Betty called me for a date, and who am I to say no to Betty...if you know what I mean. See you tomorrow at the bar after work. If you want to leave me a message, call my cell phone.)

Now if Vonage could provide THIS kind of flexibility.....

I just got this feature activated. The tech assigned me enable/disable codes, and he even called me to test it out. This feature however, is it not supported yet, so he set it up for me out of the kindness of his heart.

The only thing is if you set up a network availability number it will get forwarded to that number since it is blocked from your adapter. I disabled the network availability number and it now sends the calls directly to my voicemail. This will work perfectly for me. This was the only feature I missed from my pots line and now I have it here.

This is totally unacceptable for anonymous calls to go to my network availability number, which is my cell phone. I don't need such callers to reach my cell phone's voice mail, which they will do when I do not answer, because my voice mail's outgoing message states my cell # in it (there's a reason why I must have it that way).
