...after the 14 day trial period is up? Do you just lose your setup and first months usage fee? If I return the router to Vonage, I don't owe them anything else, do I?

At this point, I no longer think Vonage (or any Voip) is viable technology. At most it's a novelty, but the reliability is so low, it doesn't even make sense for home usage any more.

In your case. It's certainly viable for me. In fact, it's preferred.

there is a cancellation fee that is refunded when you return the device, even if you bought it elsewhere. besides that, you don't owe them and they don't owe you.

Well, today it's working near perfectly, despite my wireless connection being slow/screwed up still. So I keep going back and forth, is this an ISP problem, or a Vonage problem? I just want it to work like this all the time. 20+ minute call, and all of it sounded like a regular phone!


One thing I did change, I set up the 31P2 and my WRT55AG both as routers, and entered dynamic route information between them.

My connection looks like this:

Wireless 802.11b broadband internet antenna
|
Linksys RT31P2
||
| Phone, Uniden TRU 8885-2 (tried corded phones too, no difference)
|
Linksys WRT55AG
||
| Ethernet to desktop CPU
|
Wireless 802.11G to Laptop CPU


My wireless broadband is 802.11B on channel 6, and the router/laptop is 802.11G on channel 11- always been that way- so I don't think they were ever interfering with each other.


Today it's working. Please, PLEASE, let it stay this way!!!!! Very Happy

channel 6 is a default channel setting. it's possible you could be getting carryover from someone else's network. i'm sure you already checked for that, but i thought it was worth mentioning.

Yep, I've got netstumbler, though I don't remember if that finds networks when SSID broadcast is disabled. I don't think it does, so there could be hidden networks in my area and I might not know about it. Still, these antenna's should overpower any small wireless router signal. The POP is designed for a range of 8 - 10 miles, as is my roof antenna. I would think that other local networks would experience interferance from us, not the other way around.
