Has anyone seen this?
http://www.google.com/search?q=+Motorola+CN620

I've heard of plans to blanket entire cities with WiFi coverage, which would mean that this phone would potentially have BETTER coverage than a normal wireless phone in major cities, not to mention not using airtime. If this takes off in the business sector Vonage might impliment usage of similar phones for seamless calls between GSM and their own Voip service.

http://www.motorola.com/wlan/solution_cn620.html

Enterprise Seamless Mobility means communications your way: transparent, integrated, simple, smart, and cost-effective. We’ve taken an inside-out approach to telephony: empowering your key work groups with the ability to bring office communications capabilities with them where they need to do business.

With dual network ( 802.11 / cellular ) functionality, Motorola’s Enterprise Seamless Mobility solution can simplify business communication. Using 802.11 technology inside the enterprise and cellular telephony elsewhere, the solution supports contiguous communications across networks. Now, the office phone is no longer tethered to the desk. Now, key IP PBX-based features are available on the road. And now, each team member can be more effective with only one phone number, one voice mail to manage and access to corporate data available both inside and out of the office. It’s a total business solution designed around your enterprise.

Right now I am sure it is the testing Phase. I am also positive it is outside of my price range.

Goto the Link and it should have many models to follow

This phone is sold by Avaya (formerly Lucent, formerly AT&T) in conjunction with the Motorola seamless mobility solution. There is an intelligent controller on premise that is required to do intelligent handoff from GSM to WI-FI and vice versa. Currently, this type of handshake won't work with hot-spots and normal GSM service on the street.

It is designed to be you office phone when you're in the range of your office wireless LAN and revert to standard cellular via GSM when you are outside your office. It requires some intelligent trunking between the office PBX and the cellular provider. Currently, only Cingular and T-Mobile support GSM on a large scale in the US.
