I just got off the phone with tech support and they stated that a new firmware push will begin this evening to all of the PAP2's. He said that all techs got an email about the upcoming push and that 3.1.3 will be the new standard going forward.
He pushed mine now anyways and I'm reporting Version 3.1.3 |

I just called into Tech Support, took less than 5 minutes on hold after navigating through the phone menus. I told them I'd like to have the firmware updated, he flagged the account. I powered the PAP2 off/on, and I am now running 3.1.3. I'll see how this code runs!!!! |

I called Saturday, waited on hold for 15 minutes but got my PAP2 flashed to 3.1.3 without a problem. |

I just called and somehow got thru to someone in less than 2 mins. I indicated that I was having some connection problems lately (which I honestly was) and could I be updated to the latest firmware (my linksys pap2 was on 2.1.13b as best I could tell). I'm now on 3.1.3. Took about 1 min after I hung up for it to update. I didn't have to do anything. I'll comment if I notice any improvements/problems as well. |

I saw the following from Vonage Rep rcb116 in another thread posted today.

However, from what I hear, we just want our routers back so even within a year they MAY refund the termination fee as long as we get the router, most of the time.

Again this does not apply to retail customers.
And this has always been so |

Assuming this is the same firmware used by the Vonage boxes, this would explain why my modem calls started to work with voice version 3.1.3:
When CED/CNG tone is detected, unit will automatically go into fax/modem passthrough mode where it will, a) change codec to G711 (and also send reINVITE or NSE event to far end as needed) b) disable echo canceller c) disable silence suppression d) disable call waiting e) increase jitter buffer size to 100ms and do not allow it to shrink All these changes will last until the end of the current call |
