I have a question. The people that are having problems with Tivo and Vonage, why don't you just put Tivo on your home network (if you have one)?
I purchased a Series 2 Tivo two years ago, never with the intention of putting it on a POTS line since I was happy with a cell phone. I got a small router to hang off my cable modem and set up my Tivo through it. It's been that way ever since. Tivo said the average initial setup time was an hour...I had mine up and running in 20 minutes with my broadband connection. |

This brings up a question I have. Right now I have Cox Digital Cable with DV-R...I'm mulling over the idea of getting TiVo (again...had em two years ago for about 6 months when a storm fried the box, and they wouldn't repair it. Anything different now?). My main questions is this: I have a wireless network with a Linksys router. I somehow got lucky enough to get the Linksys Vonage adapter so the setup there was a breeze. My main concern is... my wireless router doesn't have a phone line thing, but my wired one does...if I use a wireless bridge that has a phone adapter (since the TiVo will be two rooms down the hall) will it all work out? Y'know, having the phone line go through the wireless bridge, to the wireless router, passing through the adapter, and so on? I think the current set up is somewhat like: Internet->Modem->router->Vonage->computers...but I'm not sure. Any suggestions or help? |
