Well ill give you my input.

I DO indeed see the service side of things getting better. Like Mike said, if there is an issue with the ISP provider (which i rarely see personally) then yes it will affect your service. But as far as the carrier itself, I do, again, see it getting much much better.

Thats basically what I am looking for. Reliable service.

The only one thats going to lose here is you. You are against it... and if i must repeat myself again for you to understand I will. I want the features of Voip and I want the reliablity of copper. Therefore, in my opinion, regulating Voip will in fact provide this for me. That is my arguement for my wanting it to be regulated.

That is possibly true, but even some of the services we have now that are regulated are not 100% reliable. I am not so sure that regulation will cure this.

Can you think of other things besides your assumption of reliability that regulation would bring? Any cons? Possibly more expensive for us?

How do you know that if Voip is regulated, it will have the same reliability rate of copper? To me, your attitude is a typical knee jerk reaction to a proponent of big government. You want the noose of government regulation around Voip because you want your cake and eat it too. Sounds like a very selfish and self centered attitude to me. How are you also to know 100% that you will get the same features of Voip once the long arm of the law has wrapped itself around Voip?

Government regulation does nothing more than raise costs while driving down usability and stifles creativeness.

Have you not seen the acheivements of copper? Back then, all they had was the ability to call someone and receive a call. Call waiting, call block, *69, anonymous call rejection, call forwarding. Catch my drift? Things will only go forward, not backwards. Personally, I dont like big government. I dont like congress, and I do not support the president. Thats a whole other story. Anyhow, I do however see this as an opportunity for Voip to get much better so that everyone, not just those technically advance, can use. Grant it you do have some not tech advanced using it now, but I mean for the most part, lets be real about this, thats what it first was geared toward, and thats who bought service at first. Now a days, its time to give everyone the same opportunity, without having to sacrifice service. Yes it is only my speculation that service will get better, but if it follows suit, then it will get better.

Yes it will probably demand a bit higher premium, but being the tightwad that I am, I still see it as being worth it. This isn't a little project anymore. This is big business now a days, and someone needs to control it.

The bottom line is that I would rather pay $24.99 for a service that is 90% reliable. I am fine with 911 routing my call to the local Sheriff's office and I can handle outages here and there. If you expected more from Vonage than this then you didn't do your homework. Wishing Vonage is something that is not or hoping the government will jump in and make this a POTS carbon copy makes you a dreamer and an uninformed consumer.

I CHOSE to come to Vonage for nothing less than to save money. If this service starts to compete with the price of POTS, guess what? I am going backs to POTS that will work when the power is out. I am happy with what I have and I am very happy with how much I am saving. If you are not, then there are other options for you.
