This is my only phone. I was going to recommend this service to anyone I know who has highspeed, but I don't want to get blammed if this happens again. see this?----> Evil or Very Mad really explains me, now. I can sometimes get on their website, but can't log in, and the .ca tells me my password's wrong.

Well phone service seems to be back up here in NH. Can dilaaout longdistance and everything.

There could be a very high peak volume going on the internet causing spotty outages.

I do have a land line as backup during peak surges.

The reason I speculate it is not their fault is I could not access my secure Yahoo! business server at the same time I could not dial out long distance.

I think having a backup line for emergencies (different mode - maybe land) is a good idea since all lines can go down when overloaded. Landlines can become swamped in emergencies and become useless until the emergency is over.

It seems to be that the Hampton Roads (VA) area is back up, at least for me.

I really don't see this as being a major problem. For the price that I could have paid for a landline in my area, I've got a cellphone and Vonage... and frankly this is the first problem I've had with it since I purchased it three months ago.

I think it goes to say that any new technology is going to be unstable at one point or another, but it's new. I think bailing out now would be fool-hardy... because we're now funding the advancement of Voip. I think in the near future it's going to be as good if not better than POTS, but that time is not now. If you're using it for business, I think that yes... moving to POTS for the time being would be smarter, but it was always my opinion, even now, that Voip is still in the 'geeky' area, where only the hardcore are using it, since it's very much in beta (and I use that term very loosely, meaning the kinks are not all yet worked out).

As far as the marketing goes... I totally agree that they're pushing way too hard for their capabilities... however it could very easily turn out to be for the better... and by stress testing the network, they are able to find a better fix. (Anyone remember CherryOS)

Just think about what you're using it for... and if you're willing and able to take a few hits to help out... go ahead and use it. Be prepared to exercise a little patience.

Hi everyone, My company has had Vonage for 18 months or longer and overall availablility has been very good. We have two Vonage lines and a Vonage 800 number. We also have Nextel as our wireless provider and use it for overflow and as our network availability number. Since Nextel is free incoming minutes this works out great if there is an outage. Nextel has only failed us during the hurricanes last summer.

If you are a business please don't cry when Vonage goes down and you don't have any backup plan.
