Hey Guys, any help you could provide would be appreciated. Here's the situation:
New house, wired with Cat5 and RJ-45 jacks as opposed to RJ-11. All of the wires run to a Leviton block. I have the Cisco ATA running to a jack all of it's own, and everything has been working great until today. Well, now I get no dial tone and a busy signal when I call the number. I disconnected all the phones in the house and still this is the case. Anyone out there have a suggestion? I would like to see this forum used for something other than a b i t c h seesion. Thanks everyone. |

OK, I'm curious...
What was it? |

Ok, the builder had all of my phone lines running to punch block in a Leviton structured media box. All the lines were terminated on an internal jack, except for one, the service line running to the outside of the house. It rained for the first time since I had moved in on this past Monday. I removed the service line from the punch block and all the static immediately went away and everything has worked great since. The best I can figure, is that moisture on the service line was causing all my problems. Either way, the static is gone and I don't need that line. |

Good!
Sounds like a relatively easy solution! |
