New Vonage customer. Seem to have period where my transmission (voice) cuts our for a few seconds every so often, and the person at the other end can't hear me. On the receiving end, I never hear voices cut out when people are speaking to me. Is this interference with something in my house or with my setup? Here's my setup:

Computer -> Motorola 3100B surfboard modem -> D-Link 802.11g wireless router -> Linksys Broadband router -> 5.8 GHz cordless phone.

A few months ago, I noticed that when Pest Patrol antispyware was open (in my system tray) and actively monitoring my internet, there would be periods of "delay" in my internet connection. However, I removed this software and use the Microsoft Antispyware. I don't seem to notice any internet connection disruptions, so I don't believe this is the cause.

Should I look at putting my phone adapter upstream of the wireless router?

Its a problem with the upload speed of your internet connection. You should put the RT first, connected directly to the modem. Also try changing your voice quality settings in the web account to low (30k/sec). Get someone from tech support to change your packet rate to .010 and you should be fine.

They changed my packet rate and it didn't do a thing. In fact, when I changed to 30k/sec, it made the problem worse. I don't think the problem is on Vonage's end, but rather my ISP. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people are going to have this same problem. Unless you have a perfect connection, you are going to see major problems with Vonage (and likely any current Voip system). We use Voip phones at work, and never have problems like this, but then again we have our own PBX.....

Voip is just not ready for prime time given the wide variances in ISP connections. I talked to a tech last night that said I should be just fine with my broadband 802.11b connection, as Vonage will be rolling out WiFi (maybe WiMax?) Voip phones in the future- so the technology should work. Problem is, it doesn't. And I don't have another choice for broadband in my area....
