Service seems to work when it wants to. Sometimes incoming calls ring, sometimes not. When it does ring, sometimes I can talk, sometimes it is dead. The same goes for outgoing calls. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get a busy signal. I've recycled everything and assume I've configured everything correctly. I'm running a PAP2 behind a linksys wrt54g behind a Motorola SB 4100 cm. I've even put the PAP2 directly to the modem and still get the exact same results. I have Comcast ISP. Another bit of info that may or may not contribute to a solution - I'm getting calls forwarded to my cell phone when I haven't even enabled call forwarding. I've only enabled it to work when the service is out. Bad PAP2??? Thanks for any help you can give!

Lots of problems like this with the PAP2. Pick up the phone and dial **** you will get an interactive voice menu.
Dial 73738# (spells out reset)
When it asks for password dial 7326112# then I think press 1 to confirm.
This will wipe out all internal settings and firmware, re-download it all and fix any problems that may be attributed to faulty software. |

Those are your problems right there. This is also what is killing my ability to use Vonage, I think. What kind of broadband are you using (Wireless, Cable, DSL, Other)? |

I'm using Comcast cable with a wireless wrt54g. How would that be affecting my Vonage? |

you quite possibly have the worst connection I've ever seen posted here. the jitter is bad, but it doesn't make a difference if the packets are never reaching you or the other person in the first place. you need to be calling comcast to get them fixing your line. there's definitely a problem somewhere with it. if they won't listen to you with the horrible results you already have, get pingplotter.com and run it for an extended period of time. I would run it to a comcast site that is local to you if you have them (i.e. 1-3 hops away like an email or news server, or portal site if they have a local one) and also to an outside site like yahoo or whatever. |

I called them yesterday to tell them I thought I had a slow connection and they bascially told me to deal with it. They tested my modem and said it was fine, although admitting it was slow. I'll get someone out here as soon as I can. So you don't think it has anything to do with my PAP2? |
