Anybody have any experiences in this market?

I've been waiting since 1/5 to switch over from Frontier. Three co-workers successfully transferred their numbers from Frontier to
Vonage
around Sept/Oct '04, but in each case it was more like 30 to 45 days. Should be interesting to compare our experiences given the recent marketing blitz.

I actually just got off the phone with
Vonage
and my transfer was supposed to happen today (3/3) at 10AM. It didn't. I did not know they had an estimated timeframe of the actual port.
They were sending a request in tonite to see what was going on.
Wow...Jan 5. and still waiting? Yikes.

Also in Rochester, with Frontier.
LOA sent to carrier Feb 1.
Interestingly, I also had a "tentative" transfer date of 3/3 at 10AM, which, needless to say, didn't happen.
Also have support tickets with someone promising to get back to me.
So, I guess I'm at day 24 or so.

Just got a response today:
------
I sincerely apologize for any delays regarding your number transfer.
Per your request we are processing the transfer of your current phone
number to use with our service in place of your temporary
Vonage
phone
number. This change is set to occur 3/10/05 at approx 10:00 am
Eastern. We will advise you when the porting has been completed. At
that time your temporary
Vonage
number will be disabled, so please do
check any voicemail messages you have remaining before the change takes
place.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
Vonage
LNP

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, but good luck. Hopefully they do deliver on their promise. I don't know how many times ive been promised dates and such, just to have them just fly by. I do hope it works out, and if so, please let us know. At least I will still have my hopes...

I'm impressed that the two of you have received dates (tentative or otherwise). So far I've received a promise to "expedite" the transfer and a much appreciated credit for my last billing cycle, but nothing even hinting of a date.
We'll have to see who "wins" this race w/Vonage/Frontier!

Post subject: Rochester Frontier to Vonage Port
I have my LNP informtion sent to carrier 2/3/2005 and still waiting. I am calling
Vonage
1 time a week until its done, now that the 20 days are up (3/4/2005). I hope this does not take much longer. I am "glad" to see others in this area are waiting just as long, makes me think Frontier does not like this.

Also got a reply from customer "service" that the transfer is tentatively scheduled for 3/10. at 10AM.
At least we're all getting the same story.
We'll see what happens...

Folks... transferring numbers from
Vonage
with Frontier is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I have been trying to switch a business line since AUGUST 2004!
Vonage
customer service is inexcusably poor, when you can actually get through to them. It's strictly amateur hour and "not my problem" from these people.
I have tried a transfer not less than NINE TIMES. Each time the date passes, and they will not tell you a thing until you write them, at which point they will simply reissue a new date. Then that date passes and still nothing. You can tell them they've done this over and over and still you will only receive a "tentative new date." Of course, you are still paying
Vonage
for service in addition to Frontier - they just don't have much incentive to handle these issues on a priority basis - they are still getting paid.
Calling
Vonage
by phone is voice menu hell, followed by constant busy signals when trying to speak to a human. E-mail does little as well - they will simply keep asking you to verify information but it does no good.
I am preparing to cancel my account with them. It's just not worth the time and effort and money to deal with a company that cannot take care of its customers. There are other competitors out there who actually do want you as a customer.
Vonage
does not.
Amount spent thus far on
Vonage
service that is effectively worthless: +$400.
