Folks... transferring numbers from Vonage with Frontier is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. I have been trying to switch a business line since AUGUST 2004! Vonage customer service is inexcusably poor, when you can actually get through to them. It's strictly amateur hour and "not my problem" from these people.

I have tried a transfer not less than NINE TIMES. Each time the date passes, and they will not tell you a thing until you write them, at which point they will simply reissue a new date. Then that date passes and still nothing. You can tell them they've done this over and over and still you will only receive a "tentative new date." Of course, you are still paying Vonage for service in addition to Frontier - they just don't have much incentive to handle these issues on a priority basis - they are still getting paid.

Calling Vonage by phone is voice menu hell, followed by constant busy signals when trying to speak to a human. E-mail does little as well - they will simply keep asking you to verify information but it does no good.

I am preparing to cancel my account with them. It's just not worth the time and effort and money to deal with a company that cannot take care of its customers. There are other competitors out there who actually do want you as a customer. Vonage does not.

Amount spent thus far on Vonage service that is effectively worthless: +$400.

Well...that makes me feel great. Cry

My friend switched to Vonage in November and ported from Frontier here in Rochester in about 30 days.

If my "tenative date" passes on the 10th, I fear this almighty nightmare you speak of.

Tick tick tick...

Theoretically, at least 2 of us will be transferred in 1.5 hours (at 10AM).

Bets, anyone? Rolling Eyes

I'm fighting my cynical side, here... let's hope for COB today for you guys. To date I'm still sitting here at:
January 4, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
January 5, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
January 5, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier

Vonage has credited my account for the last billing cycle (I had to go the Executive Response Team route), but alas no forward motion on the LNP. To be honest, I'm satisfied with the phone service, but if we can't get the LNP figured out by the end of March I'm going to cancel. It's a pain to keep asking for credits and beyond the ERT, I don't know how to influence this.

Good luck guys...

Just called Frontier. They tell me March 16.

EDIT:My wife just called Frontier back again and they said the 16th again. He sees a disconnect set for March 16. He also said that he did not have info in regards to when the letter of authorization came in and that it was a different dept. that handled it.

It just so happens that the 16th is the end of our bill cycle. Jerks.

Also just called Frontier and got the same answer, that they were showing a disconnect set for March 16th, so everything should be transferred by then.

Either that, or none of us porting from Frontier to Vonage will have ANY phone service on the 16th Eek

To be continued...

Well, apparently the transfer happened today! Just called home and my wife says "That was weird. The Vonage phone rang."

No e-mail, no notification on the Dashboard, but apparently the transfer
occurred anyway! Surprised

OK, now I'm really confused. I called the virtual number, and the "Vonage" phone rang. My wife then said that her mother had called (of course our "old" phone number) and the "old" phone rang! Confused

(I just have a single phone plugged directly into the TA, with 2 handsets. The other phone has 3 handsets and is still on POTS.)

No clue what's up now...
