My port is also complete. As others have noted. when the port was done, I got a one-ring call from
Vonage
, then, a few minutes later, the POTS line went dead. Got all the phones shuffled around, and all is good!
Now, to see what the security system does...
mike
I was wondering what the one ring call was about.

Seems like a batch of transfers is being processed w/Frontier. Just got the e-mail that I'm scheduled for tomorrow 3/18. Latest dashboard update:
January 4, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
January 5, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
January 5, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
March 17, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
Sounds like your transfers took place in steps over a 24 hour period, so I've already warned the family to expect some funky phone behavior tomorrow.
Wish me luck! Glad to hear that your ports were successful
Dave

My port went through perfectly, but a quick question. Frontier maintains a soft dial tone (SDT) on the line for 911 calls. I verified this with them, but didn't ask if this is temporary (short period of time during the transition) or semi-permanent. Did any of you talk to them about this?

By law land line has the 911 always on I think. A friend has no phone service (only cell) and his apartment land line still can use 911.

Post subject: Trasfer took about a month and a half
My authorization was sent 2/14 and my number transferred today. So far everything seems to be working as it should. Calls are coming in and going out.

Post subject: Satisfied with number transfer process
My LOA was sent on 3/11/2005. Obviously, my number is not transferred yet. They don't have any estimated date either, but they refunded my last month's bill and recent plan change charge. Five stars to customer service. It only took 15 minutes to get the refund.
Totaly satisfied with phone quality and customer service.

Post subject: My experience with "Frontier"
It worked finally, but don't have your phone in "vacation" mode and try to do it from Florida! You have to get hold of a miserable frontier person that tells you "the line has to be turned on first" and they go speechless when you ask them what am I paying for every month. And then they say I'll turn it on right now. And then you get a full blown bill ($35) for all the services you had previously on your phone, even though the dialtone and phones that they turn on are 1300 miles away from you and after all, you are trying to cancel the account with them permanently!!
Updated Date: Number Transfer Progress History: Required Action
March 26, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
March 29, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
March 29, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
June 2, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
June 3, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer
Frontier was charging me $14.07 a month to keep my line in "vacation' mode. Didn't make much sense when I could get a
Vonage
line and have it with me where ever I go for $14.99!
The
Vonage
line quality is way better than anything Frontier has ever even dreamed of. I can't hear well, but even I had to turn down the volume on some phones around the house. The virtual number worked fine in Florida too as I'm sure the real number will when I get back there this winter.
