I had a tech from my ISP monitor my account while I was talking with him on Vonage. Rock steady upload and download of 46.2kbps on the "50" setting. I get over 100kbps upload on tests consistantly, and regularly getting 1.3xMbps dowload. However, I'm still getting choppy audio and lost of dropped calls in the middle of the day. O Dark Early calls are near perfect....
Traffic congestion somewhere is the problem. |

Toshiba modems are notorious for problems, particularly the 1100. Which model to you have? Where (geographically) are you located? I have a friend with RR in upstate NY that occasionally experiences intermittent audio dropouts during calls |

I am just outside of Albany NY. I didn't have this problem for the first month of service, something changed. |

Just got off the phone again with my ISP, still no problems there. Does anyone have any other ideas? |

My guess is something changed at your ISP or their upstream, and you no longer have a perfect connection. Are they bursting data to you, perhaps? An interesting test would be to play streaming video with no buffer under your tested bandwidth. If you see any pauses at all, you know why Vonage won't work for you. In my short experience, Vonage needs a 100% absolutely perfect connection or you are going to have a useless phone. |
