Hello,
Please help me solve this issue:
RT31P2 -- phone lights both blink together every 15seconds? -- have not gotten a dial tone yet.
Whats the problem here? Firmware? How can I confirm which update I have and or get the latest? Do you need more info?
I have a Linksys Cable modem --into the RT31P2. --PC linked from there.
(Comcast broadband service). Have internet connection able to surf no prob.
I appreciate your help.
--------below this line--I provide less useful info,, more gripe about the customer service issue at Vonage.
This is the second RT31P2 sent to me by Vonage--and am getting the same error. Vonage Service? They've yet to help me--after I endure waiting on hold for more than an hour at a time.
Please help me understand the issue: as Vonage Customer service doesn't have a clue--and I'm tired of wasting hours on the phone--listening to their loud noisy elevator music--with the sales pitch of how great the service is. -- enough said-- I own the right to tell the truth--and customer service--doesn't exist. Hysterical that when you go thru the prompts--to the point of specifying your router--that you get disconnected? (geeze that mean something?) ha! Oh yes I'm using my cell phone to call them--because my Vonage phone still ain't working. |

it sounds like it's not registering with Vonage which to me indicates they have an incorrect mac address on file for you. what does the Status page say at http://192.168.15.1 ? (password admin) |

Reebok, Thanks for your insight.
I'll check the status page tonight--when I get home.
I assume the status page will show my mac id--that should coincide with the MAC on my Vonage linksys router.
If it does not--then I need to edit it on the status page? (or call Vonage and have them correct it?)
Thanks again for your help. |

no, the status page just shows the status of the router. it will probably be blank, then when trying to connect it may say connecting, etc. it might give an error which would be good to know if you can catch it at the right time. as far as the mac address goes, you can't do anything about it. your device connects to Vonage, and if the mac address of your box isn't the one they have on file for you, it won't work. you'll have to call them to correct it. and this may not be your problem at all, but it sounds like it to me. |

Reebok, Thanks for your inisghts again, I hope others are able to use this great info.
One more question regarding this: -- I've gone into the linksys admin page, and clicked on the VOICE tab--the message states something like "contact your service provider" -- I assume this means Vonage..and not my ISP?
Does everyones Voice tab on the admin page say the same thing? I woulda thought it would state something to the Vonage effect.
Didn't want to leave that part out.--your message reminded me of that point.
I'll give it a shot tonight--looking forward to winning this battle (hope its that simple--as it looks simple to me). Just don't want the hours on hold with "customer service".
Thanks again for your help. |

everyone's says that. it's the 'voice' tab. that's the main clue it has to do with Vonage and not your isp. it apparently has settings (accessible by Vonage) that can mess up your service (or make it better if you know what to do). |

Hi Reebok
Still getting nowhere fast.
Under Status , the voice tab says
"Router is synchronizing services. Please wait a moment." then when it clears it states
Voice Version: 2.0.12(LI)
Line 1 and Line 2 status' -- are blank?
----------- MAC ID is what I have --under the router tab.
Any new ideas? Do I have the latest firmware? Could that be it?
Thanks for your help. |

well you can connect to Vonage, and you would probably (but not necessarily) have a different firmware version if your device had connected to Vonage. that seems to be the problem. so my initial thought about them having the wrong mac still stands, can't really think of anything else unless the adaptor itself is bad which seems unlikely. |
