my understanding of upnp is that it has nothing to do with setting up any type of qos. of course, if your router has qos, which most do not, then it's usually pretty easy to set up anyway (getting to to work good is sometimes another obstacle). |

What I would like to know is the optimal setting for Voice QoS. I have read some post they have it set at 256k. I think my Linksys RT31P2 is set at its default 512k. Any advice would be appreciated. |

The upstream QOS should be set no higher than your maximum real world (not advertised) upstream rate for your connection. Most find that it works best set at 80-90% of maximum real world upstream.
Run various speedtests (www.dslreports.com, the Voip speed test here, ftp upload to your ISP) to figure out your real world max. upstream. |
