No, sorry that answer won't work. This is a toll free number that I have used with my POTS line w/out a problem, and the town is 2 over. The number works most of the time, the fast busy is just starting. I have used the 1-888 number for 4 months, 5 nights a week without a hitch, just wondering why now? The number isn't limited to just out of state, we checked.

I know there were tons of noise problems with the RT31P2 that was fixed by plugging in a shorted phone to the second phone jack, but these problems are fixed with the newer RT31P2 routers sent out by Vonage. I don't know if this is related to your case or not.

And while I was typing this, Steve from Vonage called back, acknowledged a noise problem with the PAP2, and put me on the list to get a new one when they're ready. We can't answer why I don't hear the noise even without the temporary fix, but it seems to be related since the noise fix also fixes my outbound calling/DTMF problem.

On 800, 866, 77 and 888 (And one of these days 855) numbers it doesn't matter if you block Caller ID or not. You see - since they are paying for the call they get real-time ANI or Automatic Number Identification, or if they're too cheap to get the feed via T1 facilites or similar it shows up on their monthly bill.

I know when I had an 800 number it would ring down to my local phone number. My carrier delivered the ANI as Caller ID. That was nice.

So the issue isn't Caller ID block at all. Instead, it's Vonage having some trouble.

My service has been rock solid. I wonder what it is with Vonage.
