call forward

I just signed up for Vonage & waiting for the change over of my old number. I do not have call forward. If I wanted to forward my lan phone line to my temp Vonage number I would have to order call forward from the phone company. When I signed up for Vonage they told me not to change my phone service. If I do sign up for call forward would that delay the switch over of my old phone number ?

Not sure...but just make sure that your call forwarding if you do it is to a local number and will not incurr a toll or long distance call because the virtual number is not near you

Whatever you do, don't do anything to your POTS line.
You will just need to have 2 separate phone systems until they swap your #.
Use your POTS for incoming and the Vonage for outgoing until the switch.

IF you have a 2 line phone and your jacks are wired 4 wire then you could use a 2 line splitter on each end to add your Vonage line.

Unfortunately you can not forward your temp Vonage number to your POTS # while you are waiting for the transfer. Vonage systems think that your POTS number is on their system as soon as they accept the transfer. That means forwarding to your POTS number is forwarding to itself.

Yea, that's what I was wondering. Add call forwarding to my POTS line & forward my POTS line to my temporary Vonage number till Bellsouth gives up my phone number.

If it's not cool to add that new feature to my POTS line, I'll hold off.
